3/28/10: I’m a real cartoonist now

I would like to congratulate Creator’s Syndicate for winning the “First to reject Moe” contest. Their rejection arrived yesterday at approximately 1:00 pm.

For being the first rejection letter, Creator’s Syndicate’s letter will win an all expense paid trip to a $3.00 picture frame from Target.

But that doesn’t mean you other syndicates should quit. Let’s see who rejects me next.

Stay tuned to RejectionWatch 2010.

3/6/10: Finnegan’s getting started.

So I’m in the process of starting the strip, right? My problem…I have too many ways to start the strip.

And I only get one first strip, so I don’t want to blow it. So, as usual I’m over thinking it.

They choice is to just jump right in and let the reader figure out the situation (a ghost is living with a family, not haunting it) or take the time to develop the situation in a more clearly defined way.

I tend to need to introduce characters in a very clear way. I need back stories and context to establish a situation. But I can overdo it to the point of narrative story telling like a Funky Winkerbean type of deal, where every strip is connected to the day before.

I just want it to be funny.

Oh well.
